The law of the Lord is perfect, it revives my soul
I can trust what He says to make me wise
The precepts of the Lord are right
Giving joy to my heart
The commands of the Lord give light to my eyes

The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever
The sayings of the Lord are sure and right
They are more desirable than gold
And sweeter than honey from the comb

By them is Your servant warned
In keeping them is great reward

I was stopped by the voice of a blind man along the road today
He asked me if I could lend him a hand to help him on his way
I prayed “O God, You’ve healed the lame
and raised the dead to life
I know it’s not too hard for You to give this blind man sight”
And I walked away
Satisfied I walked away

I was stopped by a beggar man sitting on the walk today
He asked me if I could spare some change
to help him on his way
I asked him “Don’t you feel ashamed
to be seen in such a state
A broken man of poverty whom people love to hate
No money I could give you
would be good enough to change who you are
And I walked away

And as I turned to go I felt the rain begin to fall
And suddenly I seemed so all alone
I hid behind the shadow of the words that I had said
To justify my beating heart of stone

I saw my friend in the check-out line at the grocery store today
I said “How are you doing?” and he turned to me to say
“My marriage is in trouble and I don’t know what to do
I’m almost at my wits end, I think that it is through”
The meaning of his message somehow never made it through

And suddenly I seemed so all alone
