These are the prophets, they speak and things change
New worlds are created, old ones rearranged
They serve as the counsellors to God Most High
		    So prophesy, prophet, prophesy
Adam, Abel, Enoch, Noah,
		    Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Balaam,
		    Moses, Aaron, Miriam, Joshua,
Eldad, Medad, and the seventy elders
Samuel had a group of prophets
Saul (What, Saul?!? Was Saul among the prophets?)
		    David, Nathan, Gad the Seer
These all prophesied, we hear them
CHORUS
Ahijah the Shilonite spoke to Jeroboam
A man of God from Judah did the same
Shemaiah spoke to Rehoboam in the south
The old man from Bethel had some lies in his mouth!
		    SHAME ON HIM!
		    Elijah, Elijah, Elijah!
Obadiah hid one hundred prophets in a cave
He fed them bread and water and he made them all behave
		    Elisha, Elisha, Elisha!
If a prophet comes to you and tells you "Strike me, please!"
You'd better be obliging or you'll be a lion's feast
Jehu son of Hanani, Jehoshaphat, Micaiah
Nameless prophets, sons of prophets, men like Azariah
To direct His people God sent prophets by the score
The ones that we have mentioned
And there's many many many many many many more....

Shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do
Seeing he will be a great and mighty nation
Shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do
Since the blessing of the world will come through him?
For I have chosen him
That he may command his children
And his household after him to keep My ways
So that I may bring the things I've promised Abe....
Shall I hide from Abraham what	I'm	about to do
Seeing he will be a great and mighty nation
Shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do
Since the blessing of the world will come through him?
This is the way I work
		    I always tell My prophets
If I am going to do a work in the earth
I want to hear what they say
If My hand should be stayed....
Shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do
Seeing he will be a great and mighty nation
Shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do
Since the blessing of the world will come through him?
		  Will come through him

Aren't you glad I did not let you touch her?
If you had, you would pay with your life...
Don't be bad, or your future is over
		    She is another man's wife.
Now give her back
		    For he is a prophet
And he will pray for you
I will hear him and you will live
		    For that's what prophets do.
Aren't	you	glad I did not let you touch her?
Now your house will be fruitful again
You, your wife, and your female slaves
Will be healed when I hear from him.
Now give her back
		    For he is a prophet
And he will pray for you
I will hear him and you will live
		    For that's what prophets do.
Now give her back

I'm gonna kill them, Moses leave Me alone
		    They're a stiff-necked people and I'm making it known

I will end them now and build a house for your name
I'm gonna kill them, Moses leave Me alone
		    They're a stiff-necked people and I'm making it known
I will consume them, for My wrath is a flame
I will end them now and build a house for your name
What will the Egyptians say to this?
They will tell each other You are evil
		    And what about Your promises
That You made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?
		    Turn from Your burning anger
Turn back this plan against Your people
		    They are Your people
		    And You have promised....
Dust of Jacob

From Aram Balak brought me
The king of Moab from the eastern mountains
"Come, curse Jacob for me, come denounce Israel!"
How can I curse whom God has not cursed?
How can I denounce whom the Lord has not?
From the tops of the crags I see him
From the hills I behold a people dwelling alone
No land to call their home
Who can count the dust of Jacob?
Who can number his quarter part?
Let me die the death of the upright,
Let my end be just the start
Rise up now, Balak; hear me
God is not a man, a liar
Nor a son of man, that He should change His mind
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Has He spoken, will He not fulfill?
Behold, I've been told to bless him
For the Lord has blessed, and I cannot revoke
		    The word Jehovah spoke
Who can count the dust of Jacob?
Who can number his quarter part?
Let me die the death of the upright,
Let my end be just the start
Who can count the dust of Jacob?
Who can number his quarter part?
Let me die the death of the upright,
Let my end be just the start
He has not beheld misfortune, nor seen trouble in Israel
For the Lord their God is with them, and a king will rise as well
God has brought him out of Egypt,
he's an ox that can't be tamed
There is no device against him, and when Israel is named
They will say, "See what God has done!"
They will say, "See what God has done!"
You Are the Man!

There were two men in one city, one rich and one not
		    The rich had great flocks,
but the poor had one lamb he had bought
He brought it up with his children, it fed from his table and cup
It lay down in his bosom, and was like a daughter he loved
There was a day for the rich man when a traveller came
Unwilling to give of his own, to the poor man he came
Against his protesting his lamb was arrested and slain
And fed to the traveller, leaving the poor man in pain
Does this bother you?
Does it make you real mad
That the rich man would do this with all that he had?
That his eye had no pity?
Do you think he should die?
And restore it fourfold... God help me...
		    You are the man!
Is this clear to you?
These are the things you have done
Though the Lord gave you much, you've despised it and run
To the door of your neighbour to steal his bride...
So I'm taking my life in my hands, saying
		    You are the man!

All the words of the prophets here are favourable to the king;
Let yours be the same, Micaiah.
They pronounce his victory, in triumph now they sing
Let yours be the same, Micaiah.
King Ahab doesn't like you much
I wonder why he calls you...
Only speak the truth untouched by any evil thoughts, Micaiah
There they are before the gates, the prophets prophesying
See the horns Zedekiah made of iron; are they lying?
Here the prophets of the land all stand in one accord
Victory to Israel's king is given by the Lord, Micaiah
And now if you should say
The king will go away, not returning
		    Say the king should die;
Say the prophets lie, never learning
You will be in trouble... deep
If you have a hankering to live on bread and water
Till the king comes home again in safety from the slaughter
		    Speak the word he does not like;
		    Tell him he will fail;
Should the prophets all be wrong
You'll still be in my jail, Micaiah.
All the words of the prophets here are favourable to the king;
Let yours be the same, Micaiah.

"I'm going up to Bethel," I heard Elijah tell.
"You don't need to go with me, I think I'll go myself.
I'm heading out for Jericho, you should stay and I should go.
The prophets' sons all tell you so, I'm leaving here today.
I'm going across the Jordan, and I ought to go alone...
I've rolled my cloak, I'm striking out for home."
As the Lord lives, as your soul lives,
I will not leave you today
As the Lord lives, as your soul lives,
I will not leave you today
"What can I do for you," he said.
"A double portion of your spirit
As a parting gift from you."
"You have asked a hard thing,
But if you see me when I'm taken, it's yours."
		  And we talked on...
I won my heart's desire when a chariot of fire
And a horse named Blaze took my master away
Imagine my delight to behold such a sight
Of Elijah in flight on the wind
My father! My father!
The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!
		    My father! My father!
The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!
		    My father! My father!
The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!

Bethel
I hate to be the bearer of bad news
To bear the news that bad news comes in twos
Two bad news bears are giving you the blues
		    Bethel
The boys were out engaging in their play
Now forty-two of them have gone away
Your sons are dead, your calf is here to stay
Bethel
The mocking of a godly man is learned
Your golden idol wins but you get burned
Consider this the wages you have earned
Bethel
If boys are being boys it's so extreme
If not then give a thought what this could mean
When idols paint the colour of their dreams
Then boys will be boys will be boys will be... lunch

One day (one day) Elisha (Elisha)

Tie up your garment (your garment)
Take this flask of oil in your hand
		    And go to Ramoth Gilead
And look for Jehu (Jehu) son of Nimshi (Nimshi)
Get him apart from all his pals
Then take this flask of oil (Take this flask of oil)
Pour it on his head (Pour it on his head, and say)
Thus says the Lord (Thus says the Lord)
I anoint you king over Israel
Sometimes a prophet has to stand
Like an iron wall against the land
And standing is fine, when the time is right
But the time is wrong, and it's fine for flight so....
RUN! Jehu is king, so RUN!
If you want to live you better RUN!
Ahab is finished; run, prophet; run, prophet
RUN! His tent flap is opening, RUN!
		    He's mounting his chariot, RUN!
		    He drives like a madman
		    Run, prophet; run, prophet, run!
Man Next Door

I don't know about the man next door
He seems different than he was before
He used to be fine, till he crossed the line
		    And married that Gomer lady....
She seems quite popular with all the men in town
And to me it just doesn't seem right
They had several children; one, two,	three
		    Jezreel, Lo-Ruhamah, Lo-Ammi
It's hard to play games with kids of such names
I wonder what he was thinking?
		    Pass the ball, I-Will-Put-An-End-to-Israel (Jezreel)!
		    A pretty thing to show No-Mercy (Lo-Ruhamah)
And little Lo-Ammi; Not-My-People, that is he....
And their mother is always gone....
Mom and Dad told us to shun them
No more playing, we are done with them
These neighbours defile us, we feel impure
We think we've been insulted but we're not quite sure....
I don't know about the man next door anymore....

Did you see him last year
Laying a siege on a city he made
Three hundred ninety days he laid
		    Out in the main square
		    Eating short rations
He was so skinny by the time he was done
It looked like play, but it was no fun
		    And everyone could see him....
Is he a sign? Is he a sign?
		    A sign and a wonder
I saw him today
Waving his sword all around in the air
Swinging away at a handful of hair
		    All through the city
		    His head was bald
It looked like he had shaved it with his sword
They say he is a prophet of the Lord
		    Well, he makes me wonder
Is he a sign? Is he a sign?
		    A sign and a wonder

It was hard to be a wise guy
In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar
For he would not tell his dreams
No he would not spill the beans
Though they tried to gain time
They were all doomed to find
It was hard to be a wise guy in the second year
So I went to see the king
In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar
"Would you please appoint a time" I asked
"For me to make it known?"
So I went home to my house and I told my faithful friends
We must seek the Lord of Heaven
Lest the wise come to an end
So we prayed in the night
And the Lord gave me sight
Blessed be the name of God forever and ever
To whom belong all wisdom and might
He changes times and seasons, He gives wisdom to the wise
He reveals things hidden deep in the dark
To You, God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise
For You have given wisdom and might
You have made known what we asked of You
What the king dreamed in the night
For with You is the dwelling of light
This word saved all the wise guys
In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar
And he raised me up on high in the second year

In the siege, in the siege of Jerusalem
I was shut up in the court of the guard
For I preached "Give it up to Babylon,
Though you fight them you will never succeed"
How their foreign armour shone! and the people were afraid
And the bread was almost gone,
and the breach was almost made
With the city poised to fall, and the nation overrun
The Word of the Lord came; time to buy a field
Seventeen shekels of silver
Signed the deed, it was sealed, it was witnessed
		    And the money was weighed
The deed was done, the price was paid
Tell me why... why did I buy a field
Tell me why... why did I buy a field
		    It will never yield
Not for me, not for me, not for me
You're a sign, you're a sign to Israel
I will restore their fortunes, they will return
And will find... fields will be sold and deeds will be signed
		    With no enemies near
How their foreign armour shone! and the people were afraid
And the bread was almost gone,
and the breach was almost made
With the city poised to fall, and the nation overrun
The Word of the Lord came; time to buy a field
Tell me why... why did I buy a field
Tell me why... why did I buy a field
It will never yield
Not for me, not for me, not for me

In the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar

		    Together fall
Go down, down, down, down Jerusalem
		    Down, down, down, down Jerusalem
Down, down, down, down Jerusalem, down
I was taken from the prison house
By the word and a ward of a king who knew my name
		    He knew my name
He told me that the Lord had done this
Because we sinned against Him and we strayed
		    Did not obey
Go down, down, down, down Jerusalem
Down, down, down, down Jerusalem
Down, down, down, down Jerusalem, down
He said...
		    Jeremiah, you are free
To stay with you or come with me
Whatever you wish, I will agree
I will treat you well, but whatever seems good to you
Do it, do it, do it

My husband died, and now my son
I'm all alone though the crowds have come
I walk by this bier to a field of stones in my soul
I know that death, it awaits us all....
I can't catch my breath from this dizzy fall
		    All that I've hoped for
Is lying still and cold in this crowd
		    Crying aloud for the pain
Weeping through the gates of Nain
Through my tears I see the crowd has grown
A Man approaches with compassion shown
		    He says, "Do not weep."
And our march of death and time stands still
Nothing could prepare me for this
What could have prepared me for this....
He spoke to my son, my dead son, my only son
And He told him to arise, and he did!
My boy sat up and then began to speak
This man named Jesus gave him back to me
The crowd was filled with awe, and they glorified God
"A great prophet has arisen among us!
A great prophet has arisen among us!"
A great prophet indeed has arisen for me
		    And given me life again
		    In the gates of Nain
